Group Show, Snooze II
www.snooze-exhibition.info in Detroit detroitstockholm.com

2-11 december kl 12-18 (Vernissage 1a december 18-22)

MOMENT 16.8 – 29.9.2010

Amos Anderson Art Museum
www.amosanderson.fi

It feels so cool and invigorating to abandon oneself to the pleasures of pure art aroused by frescoes… to seek only the idea the artist has sought to represent, those visions conjured in his mind’s eye… not to cling to details, but to be influenced by the work as a whole.
– Juhani Aho 1927 on Italian fresco painting (rough translation by I. O’Neill)

The mural exhibition Moment opens to the public on 16 August at the Amos Anderson Art Museum. A gap in the exhibition schedule made it possible to stage a more or less impromptu display in the exhibition space on the second floor. The participating artists all have prior experience in spatial art. Apart from painterly means, the artists have used various tools of expression from animation, music, and installation art to video work. The original exhibition idea and its subsequent implementation have a common denominator: the momentary, which is also descriptive of works themselves.
Images painted on various structures have existed since the beginning of mankind. Such paintings surround us and draw us into their world. Works may take shape from unintentional splatter or worn surfaces, observed by an occasional onlooker. This sort of visual art conveys permanent freedom, independent of its location. Images and symbols painted or drawn on walls are always a fresh, effective and ever-changing mode of communication. Inspiration can be drawn from spirituality, ornamentation, territorial markings or politics. The theme is open.

The exhibition includes individual works by Eerika Erre, El Frauenfelder (Switzerland), Hannaleena Heiska, Marjo Leinonen, Muriel Lässer (Switzerland), Jere Seppänen, Janne Siltanen as well as a joint piece by Jere Seppänen and Camilla Vuorenmaa.

Sihlhallenstrasse Neunzehn

March 24th – April 4th 2010,
Sihlhallenstrasse 19, Zurich

Sihlhallenstrasse Neunzehn is for an art where nothing is too much, too foreign, too little or too silly. The exhibited works are not necessarily linked by subject matter or media. They are connected by a certain joy, by an interest in life - good, bad or peculiar.

Curated by Bettina Mürner and Sebastian Utzni
